A NOTE TO OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND PARTNERS:
As you know, the federal government has been shut down since October 1, 2025, and as of now there is not a planned date for reopening. It was announced today, October27, that SNAP benefits will not be issued at the beginning of November.
In Colorado, $120 million is allocated monthly via SNAP benefits. Across the state, more than 614,000 people rely on support from SNAP to put food on their tables, half of whom are children, 10% are people over 65, and 15% are people living with disabilities. For every meal that a food bank can provide, SNAP provides nine. An estimated 1 in 13 Jefferson County residents struggle with food insecurity, lacking consistent access to sufficient, nutritious food.
Hunger Free Golden is at the front lines of serving our neighbors experiencing food insecurity and our local pantries, who have already seen a 40% increase in access this year, will be the first to see people who do not receive benefits beginning in November. SNAP recipients typically use the bulk of their benefits in the first two weeks of the month, so a delay will have a significant impact on our food insecure community members who count on these benefits to meet their food needs.
PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A MONETARY DONATION TO SUPPORT OUR PANTRIES IN GOLDEN.

(BGoldN is serving as the fiscal sponsor, but all donations will be divided among the pantries.)
